The Seeker

I just started watching series called 'The Seeker' and i'm already applying it to Naija. The Seeker is one who rises to rescue his people from pain and suffering.

Now that GEJ has the goodwill of the people of Naija, it behooves on him to address our concerns and restore our hope. We have deep seated issues that have been left unattended to and we hope that his administration will, as confessed during election campaigns, that they will tackle them from the foundation.

Federalism, revenue sharing and ethno-religious crisis have hit us really hard in the past due to the tension in our beloved country endowed with wealth beyond measure. For me, i'm losing hope of redemption because problems are getting worse by the day. Our people are taking off, to foreign lands, in the name of 'hustling' to eke out meaning living. Loss of man power and brain drain becomes the resultant. Power is still epileptic since independence even though we have every natural and renewable resource needed to generate power.

Well, i will keep hoping for that big bang in our situation. Naija go better...

Believe you me, if any one told me that the rain that started as a shower would wreck the whole of Lagos- i no go believe am!

I could not even make it to church as the heavens opened and poured nearly eternally for over 10 hours. Lagos could not hold this volume of hydro as all waterways and drainage gave way and puked water from all angles.

Nearly every one had an injury or two to contend with. Well, i live above the ground and could not feel the anguish directly but i did indirectly bearing in mind the common humanity that binds my fellow Nigerians- those who lost lives and property to mother earth's daily shower...

Lagos state government must now act fast to forestall any other environmental damage as more rains will surely come...na the season we de!

Me and French language.

Salut a tous,

I recall the my days in Jos, North Central Nigeria; how sweet an experience. This was in the year 2007. Every passing was a memory for me. I met friends who changed my mental horizon and paradigm; I'm talking of multicultural background here.

My biggest triumph was successfully passing the DELF A1 & A2 exams in French language at the Centre for French Teaching and Documentation; L'Alliance Francaise de Jos. I enhanced my french speaking instincts a great deal. i was taught by foreign nationals and we merried every now and then as is integral in the french culture.

I have long nursed the desire to speak an international language and french made my choice. Africa is largely francophonie and i had no struggle concluding to acquire the asset. Back in secondary school where the seeds were nursed, i had a good time learning the language and surprisingly i made an A in the Junior WAEC exam in French language!

With all candour i have a flair for languages and desire to at least be able to speak three international languages (french, german and spanish) at native fluency level. This is a herculean task but it's not insurmountable. Thanks to online resources like: www.rocketlanguages.com, french speaking people-group on facebook and a host of others available online.

Personally, i reckon it's important to have one international language in one's vlaue portfolio because of the globalisaton in every facet of world affairs and for better integration. Being a linguist should be a collective goal and not just for scholars in the language faculty.

My dear friends, this epistle only serves to ignite that latent desire to conquer the world as directed by the Almighty way back in the days. See you all at the top...

A' bientot,

Obum

A Wave of Changes Globally

Hi people,

I welcome to reality again. Sure we have come to terms with the reality gripping the globe. A mix of good and bad but we must muster courage and hope our heads up high for the future will always be brighter- that's our strong belief.

My reckoning is that these changes are opportunities to review previous happenings and forge ahead for the uplift of mankind.

How sweet planet earth is; i wonder how the planets are?

Cheers
